testing. one, two. testing

Okay, so I have been briefly posting about construction at our home and you have heard me so many times before talking about this old house... well, the construction is on our basement. Nope, we are finishing it. Our house is 110+ years old and once had a dirt floor and low basement ceiling, it would take a small army to dig the foundation and a large sum of loot to make it pretty. We have neither, so we are focusing in on just keeping it dry and the air quality good. The french drain and large pit (once was the coal pit) filled in. And today, tomorrow and Wednesday will be a test -- RAIN! All three days. Well, so far so good. The walls are next. We have a wonderful neighbor, who is a mason and his team will be stripping our walls and coating them (4 layers). This is all needed for the LYME that is coming through our walls! I know, big issue. But that will be all gone, hopefully, before little miss arrives. After the walls and now that are basement is dry (fingers crossed), my bub will try to do something with the floors. They are concrete and on even right now. And then we will be purchasing a new washer and dryer. Um, yes -- my laundry is in the dungeon.

So tell me -- anyone have any ideas for a basement floor? I was thinking those garage tiles and our neighbor said indoor/outdoor carpet...

Also, any suggestions on washers and dryers?? Of course, I covet my mother-in-law's GE front loaders, but they may bust the budget!!!

Hope you are all having a pleasant Monday and staying dry!

where oh where is mommie...

- recovering from a bad head cold

- knee deep in mud, cement and piles upon piles of laundry - we are weatherproofing the basement and boy oh boy that's a dirty job. To clarify, our contractor is weatherproofing, but we had to clean out the basement and I am patiently awaiting dry floors, so the washer and dryer can get hooked up! Oh and the basement will still be a dungeon, but a dry one!

- staring at primer on the walls in the nursery. We are so behind on our little princess' room.

- swelling up! The water that is residing in my legs, feet and face is borderline comical.

- enjoying reading all your posts. I am sorry if I have not been commenting, but I have been rarely clicking through my reader.
