simply nesting saturdays...

the last needle has been swept away...

...probably not. who am I kidding, I probably will find the Christmas tree's needles all year long. but we have packed away the Christmas decorations and the tree is hanging out by the trash cans. well, we did leave up the garland on the mantle (the lights, not LED, are just to pretty to take down yet) and the wreaths on the front doors are not actually Christmas-like, but more winter-like and beautiful (hand-me-down from mimi). those will remain up through january. along with the Christmas take-down, we did a little rearranging. moving the largest armoire ever into the foyer, which forced us to move that room around a little. basically, we purchased this beautiful piece of wood that weighs 500 lbs. for very cheap and I so wanted it to be a linen closet. because as I have wrote time and time again, our old house has no closet. at any rate, we could not get it up the stairs (when I say we I mean my husband, his brother and father). so it landed in the living room that already housed an armoire. to me it was insanity and finally, well over a year later, I got move it out!!!

the living room still needs some tlc, which I am sure will be completed this weekend. right, honey???

all this rearranging, cleaning and simply bossing around my sweet husband, maybe think about how I was when I was "nesting", except I am still nesting. I nested before I was in pregnant with double l and continue today. so, I am starting a new series on saturdays, called "simply nesting". I would like to write all about what's happening in my nest and hopefully receive some creative ideas in return.

simply nesting - v.1

remember my first crafty project, well we re-purposed the Christmas card board to an all purpose family organizational board. it is perfect for our calendar, double l's art work, my bub's snow flakes...

because I have always been bummed to throw out the picture cards each year, I got this idea from my auntie... I am putting them in an album and packing them away with the decorations. each year, we will take it and add to it. it will be so much fun looking back and seeing how all the kiddies have grown over the years...

more simple ideas to follow every saturday... simple food ideas, simple craft ideas, simple cleaning tips, on and on...

the theme is simple because I can not handle or create anything that is difficult :)

fabulous - so you can give me tons of tips. we have so much to do this year around our "nest", so I thought having a segment dedicated to it would motivate me even more...

can't wait to hear about your "nesting"

Happy New Year! Thanks so much for visiting me~ I love your idea of the photo cards in an album! what a great way to save all of those sweet cards.

~about the magazine, I still love Victoria. There really isn't anything that is like Cottage Living, how about Country Home? or Country Living? Both have wonderful articles, and feature great interiors that have a modern but "cottage country look"!

Yes, I think those projects are completely doable! That board looks like something I would totally use too. I have one now but it's magnetic so it won't hold my calendar, etc. :(

I always get this feeling at the end of the year. Once Christmas is over, I just need all the extra stuff to be out of the way, and I always want to change something around. It's like, New Year, new space. Especially now, with little kiddos and toys, it is so easy to let the toys take over.
That is a great idea about the Christmas card album! I will defintely have to do this as well. Great post!

Hi Courtney,
Thank you for finding my blog. I guess there are many of us who have knitting as one of our new years resolutions.
And good idea about the Christmas cards. Here most cards are still of the Hallmark variety, but the ones with pictures I always kept. They really show how everybody is growing each year.
Have fun and a nice week.
